The purpose of stating the use of the yarn is to help in judging, and for that judging to help the spinner improve; if it looks and feels like rug warp and the spinner was intending to knit a lacy scarf, it's not a very successful yarn and the feedback needs to address that.

The purpose of including yards per pound definitions is again to help the spinner improve at hitting defined targets that are fairly well standardized, thus becoming better spinners.

REGISTRATION - Please register your handspun between 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. Friday May 20th and 9:00 - 10:00 am on Saturday, May 21st.

If you cannot register on site, skeins may be mailed to Skein Competition c/o Dianne MacDonald, 4565 Cummins Ferry, Versailles, KY 40383.  Mailed skeins must be received no later than Saturday, May 14, 2011, and must include entry fee.  Please enclose a SASE with appropriate postage or a note indicating the skein(s) will be claimed after 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 22nd, at the Festival.

ENTRY FEE - $2.00 per skein to be paid at time of registration.

AWARDS - Ribbons and premiums of $10 for first place, $5 for second place and $3 for third place will be awarded in each category, where appropriate.

A Locally Grown Bonus Award sponsored by Mike and Dianne MacDonald, Tanglewood Farm, will be given for any first, second or third place spun with locally produced fiber (must have proof that fiber was produced in the state of Kentucky).
