Service Description
You may be wondering what "Nuno" means. Great question...it means “fabric” in Japanese and is a term used to describe the felting of natural fibers (we will be using Merino wool top) and open weave fabrics (in our case, silk sari fabrics) to create your choice of either a beautiful, small table runner or two placemats. These unique, colorful nuno-felt pieces will resemble a lovely stained glass window through the collaging of silk fabrics. Your mosaic nuno-felt will be both decorative and functional offering protection to your table from spills. This is a great class, not only for feltmakers who want to add some new skills to their repertoire, but also for anyone interested in learning to make their own one-of-a-kind fabric yardage. Suitable for all levels. Some standing involved… please wear comfortable shoes and clothes. Skill Level for this Workshop: Suitable for all levels. Some standing involved. We will be rolling our felt which requires some physical exertion. Please wear comfortable shoes and clothes. Students will need to bring: "• 3 bath sized towels • Scissors to cut fabric. • A plastic bucket or beach pail for water. • Ballbrause or laundry sprinkler bottle. I will have several to share if you don’t have one. • Old pantyhose or an old t-shirt which can be cut up (we will use these to tie our bundles to secure for rolling of the felt). • PVC pipe or pool noodle to roll your felt. (If easier for travel the poodle noodle may be cut in half as that is all that you will need.) • Optional: You may wish to purchase a set of plastic bed risers (which run about $10/set) to raise the height of your table to a more comfortable working height.
