Ecoprint in Color on Silk and Wool

Service Description

An intermediate to advanced class for experienced Ecoprinters. Students will learn how to mix and use permanent Jacquard dyes to create color for use in their botanical printing on pure silk and merino wool. Using their plant supply, they will learn how to imprint beautiful leaf designs onto the fiber and enhance them with dye blankets. At the end of the day, students will take home both a silk and wool ecoprinted scarf enhanced with color and the knowledge to continue the process at home. Skill Level for this Workshop: Intermediate or Advanced Skills required. A pre-requisite for this class is experience or the earlier Ecoprint on Silk and Wool workshop Students should bring: Previous ecoprinting experience recommended but not required. Students should bring leaves from their area with emphasis on high tannin leaves such as oak, maples, rose, hickory, sumac and interesting weeds. Fun additional plants (usually store bought) are eucalyptus and colorful flowers such as carnations, gerber daises. No thick plants. * Bring I gallon water jug to use as a weight.(can be empty and fill at class) Registration Fee and Materials Cost included. Materials Fee includes: •Covers all equipment (turkey roasters, dowels,twine, baskets, scissors, paper dowels, latex gloves, plastic) mordants, dyes, 1 pure silk scarf and 1 merino wool scarf, use of 2 dye blankets, sheet of instructions. *This is an all day class and will have a break for lunch
